“Hard as hell, free as a ray of light, there is not a band on earth that is better. Stunning.” – Flea, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Winner of OffBeat’s Best of the Beat Award for Album of the Year!
“Move Your Body is a standard title for a brass band recording, but the Rebirth Brass Band is no standard band. Founded about 30 years ago by the Frazier brothers (Philip and Keith) and trumpeter Kermit Ruffins, the band is real deal.” -Will Layman, Pop Matters
“The group has just released Move Your Body (Basin Street), a welcome return to form. The nonet (three trumpets, two trombones, two drums, saxophone, and tuba) is a well-oiled machine at this point, and the purpose of this recording is summed up in the original tune, “Rebirth Makes You Dance,” which proves just how physically compelling an unamplified horn band can be, even while sneaking in jazz solos.” –Baltimore City Paper
“Adding to their vast discography, Rebirth Brass Band has released another jaw dropping, booty shakin’, and soul inspiring album. Properly entitled Move Your Body, this album truly keeps the party going as the momentum from their previous Grammy Award Winning 2012 release, Rebirth of New Orleans, set a new bar for their legendary group.” –Where Y’At
“Hard as hell, free as a ray of light, there is not a band on earth that is better. Stunning.” – Flea, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Hailed by the New York Times as “a New Orleans institution,” the Rebirth Brass Band have been at the forefront of the brass band revival that they helped kick off 31 years ago. Formed by the Frazier brothers, Phil and Keith, along with Basin Street labelmate Kermit Ruffins in 1983, The Rebirth Brass Band has gone from playing on corners in the French Quarter to selling out concert halls across the world and appearing in David Simon’s HBO hit Treme.
Following the Grammy-winning Rebirth of New Orleans, Rebirth Brass Band is at it again with Move Your Body, an infectious, groove-laden collection of hip-shakers sure to saturate the dance floor.
Rollicking originals like “Who’s Rockin, Who’s Rollin’?” and “Take ‘Em to the Moon” reaffirm the band’s position as head of the brass throne while the rasta-esque “On My Way” and leave-nothing-to-the-imagination lyrics of “HBNS” showcase the unit’s talent for penning unabashed party starters. No band exemplifies the essence and soul of New Orleans like Rebirth Brass Band.
