K-Ville and Kermit Ruffins’ “Drop Me Off in New Orleans”

Tonight’s new episode of K-Ville on Fox (airs at 8pm CT) will include what I believe will be a long performance of “Drop Me Off in New Orleans” from Kermit Ruffins’ 1533 St. Philip Street CD. Please write to Fox and tell them to renew the show next season. It is great for New Orleans. If you haven’t seen it, it is a cop drama set in post-Katrina New Orleans. It has hired a bunch of local actors and crew, and has used a lot of local music.

Leary Firefighters Rebuilding New Orleans Firehouses

Thank you to Leary Firefighters for helping New Orleans rebuild our firehouses. Basin Street Records and Kermit Ruffins were proud to donate the use of Kermit Ruffins’ Here to Stay from our Throwback CD to the music video that shows this rebuilding in action. 10 Years Since Our First Recording

Tonight, at Tipitina’s in New Orleans, we return to the scene of our first recording. On November 14, 1997 we recorded what would become “The Barbecue Swingers Live”, but what was tentatively named that night, “Swingin’ Live!”

Tonight, November 9, 2007, we celebrate 10 years since a packed house witnessed that first recording from Basin Street Records. Both Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers and the Rebirth Brass Band will perform. Don’t miss it!
